Nose: Medicinal peat with a hint of tarry ropes, dark chocolate mousse, some ripe red berry sweetness.
Palate: Dates, prunes, toasted almonds, bonfire smoke, toffee, burnt ends.
Finish: Lasting peat smokiness, with a crisp hint of red grapes.

Excellent single malt from Islay’s Lagavulin Distillery, which has enjoyed a finishing period in Pedro Ximénez casks. The whisky was distilled back in 2005, and eventually bottled up in 2020 as part of the long-running (and much-adored) Distillers Edition series. The intense peaty wafts pair well with the Pedro Ximénez sweetness, making for a delicious, flavoursome, and thoroughly distinctive dram.
