This 5 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Islay’s farm distillery came from 35 ex-bourbon barrels which were filled in 2009 and opened in 2014, producing 9,200 bottles. It has been bottled at a natural cask strength of 59.2% ABV, and without any chill-filtration. Gloriously intense with plenty of ripe fruit and a neat core of peat smoke.
Soft caramel notes with crisp-fresh apples, a clear lager fire with oat flakes and some freshly crushed black pepper.
Initial sweetness again with fresh apples and a few soft apricots. This sweetness comes in smoky notes, which are very strong.
Long lasting with pineapple, lots of vanilla and nicely integrated smoke.

The Kilchoman filled in Original Cask Strength stored for about 6 years in particularly small barrels, called Quater Casks. This makes the exchange between wood and barrel contents particularly great. This single malt shows the pronounced vanilla aromas and tropical fruits. For this filling, a total of 95 quater cakes were served. The Scotch is completely natural, without dye or cooling filter and in unvefälchten Fassstärke pulled on bottles.
