This is the fourth edition of Bruichladdich’s Black Art series. The whisky is created by master distiller Jim McEwan and the composition is a secret. All we know is it’s aged in a combination of American and French oak.
Rich and heady with clean aromas of red-berry fruit, followed by honeycomb and Toffee Crisp. Bruichladdich won’t say which casks this has spent time in, but red wine and Madeira are the dominant characters here.
Beautiful mouthfeel, brimming with notes of toffee and dried fruit – raspberries, blackcurrants and cherries. Very easy drinking, despite the complex flavours, and has a lovely rich texture.
The juicy fruit persists.
